“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalms 90:12

This verse is one of the pillars of my spiritual growth. I’ll show you why. It all connects to the word that is in bold. That word translated apply, unfortunately, doesn’t reveal the beautiful movement of the original word. The original word means literally to go in, to come in.

So the verse is saying that if we learn how to number our days, we allow our hearts to enter into wisdom. That’s such a beautiful, comforting and protective statement – Our deep passions, enjoyments, loves and desires reside in and are protected by wisdom when we learn to number our days.

I have found this concept to be true and frankly very theologically rich(sorry I won’t get into it here).

I have numbered my days and planned accordingly – I have written my life’s plan. Working on a life plan begins to change you…rather release you. It releases you from other people’s thoughts, suggestions or presumptions of what they think you should do with your life. And it places you in your own purpose.

If you take the time out to know find your core beliefs, values and truths, then what seems to be choices you need to make vanishes and your path appears. The path that leads to the destiny and purpose of whatever you believe and value! I hope you’re not afraid of seeing where what you believe and value most will lead you.

I like how the scripture reveals that you have to enter into wisdom, because there is another scripture verse that connects with it. It basically is saying, very poetically that wisdom is calling to us. I’ll write some of it here but it is worth reading the entire chapter.

“Does not wisdom cry out, and understanding life up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors: ‘To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men….Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things;….” Proverbs 8:1-4, 6

Are you answering wisdom by numbering your days???
